Updated ~ RNA Shipmates Ventilator Appeal

Updated…….

Ahoy Shipmates,

 Sorry to trouble you with another pipe concerning the RNA NHS & Ventilator Appeal.

 When the idea for an appeal was first muted, a month ago, the NHS required ventilators as a priority, however as a couple of shipmates have highlighted the need is for other types of kit, for instance PPE (facemasks & Scrubs etc).  So we have decided to change the name of the appeal to the NHS & Ventilator appeal which will enable the NHS to direct the funds for the maximum benefit in the fight against Covid19.

Ventilator Appeal

 Dear Shipmates,

Hope you are all well and continuing to stay safe.

Shipmates may be aware that during the Second World War an initiative known as ‘Warship Week’ enabled local communities to contribute towards the cost of building new warships through National Savings.  These ships replaced ones that were lost in the early part of the war and were vital to the effort in winning the Battle of the Atlantic in defending convoys.

In that spirit, I write to ask for your assistance in raising the sum of £15,000 to enable our Association to purchase a ‘Ventilator’ for use by our amazing NHS.   If all 12,000 members were kind enough to contribute it would work out at just £1.25 per Shipmate.

Sadly, the majority of the RNA membership falls into the Coronavirus ‘At Risk’ category and we are looking to raise the cost of a ventilator which would be an extremely welcome and valued bit of kit by the NHS and it would be ‘Our’ contribution towards this major national crisis .

So, in preference and given the urgent requirement for Ventilators and the additional benefit of claiming Gift Aid, it would be great if your donation was made on-line at the Virgin Moneygiving page;

Please dig deep as every last ‘Ickie or Sheckle’ counts towards our target

However, you can also forward your contribution by cash or cheque (made out to the RNA and please ensure you annotate both cheque and envelope ‘Ventilator Appeal’.  Please send to RNA Central Office, Building 1/087, Scott Road, HM Naval Base, Portsmouth Hants PO1 3LU

Thank you
