In 2016 Littlemoor applied to the Lottery fund for regeneration money and were successful to the tune of £1 million, to be used for community projects. The local children put forward an idea for a war memorial which has evolved into a Field of Remembrance which will be situated in a field opposite the ‘mushrooms’. (Jurassic Roundabout).
There are already steel benches (representing both world wars), two interpretation panels and two metal soldiers in place and a Royal Oak is to be planted in the middle of the field.
The Dedication will be carried out by Richard Drax MP, (if he gets re-elected), or by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset and the Weymouth Town Mayor.
The plan is to assemble at Littlemoor Community Centre, Canberra Road at 1130 on the 25th October. As there is NO PARKING on site all participants will be transferred to and from site by bus. Refreshments will be provided at the Community Centre on completion.
