Shipmates. A message from Reunion Secretary Fay Lawton for those attending the No 4 Area Reunion at Bideford next month:
“I hope you will have all heard by now that the reunion church service is being held at 10.00 at the Church of St Margaret of Antioch in Northam.
It’s a slow 20 minute walk (I’ve done it) from Durrant House and there is a large free car park behind the church.
The reason for this email is that our Guest of Honour is the new RNA National President Vice Admiral Duncan Potts CB who is hoping to attend, and the service is being taken by the new Area 4 Chaplain, Reverend Martin Kirkbride.
We are inviting the local Sea Cadets to participate, and the church is very happy for us to inform the local press of the event, good for the church, good for us. They have been incredibly supportive of us holding our service in their church.
Please, please can you ask your Standard Bearers if they can attend, Malcolm Day is onboard with this and if anyone can step in for their Standard Bearer I’m sure he will support them.
It’s a beautiful old church with a high ceiling and if we could have the aisle lined with Standards it would be amazing. Standard Bearers will obviously have the first seat in the aisle so very little standing.
Sorry this is so long but as it’s our first in the church with our National President attending we would like to show how it can be done.
Please tell all shipmates attending reunion and ask them if they could support this very special event.
Details with a map etc will be handed out at Durrant House. Any question please contact me.
Thank you in advance for your support.”
