Our Trafalgar Night Dinner 2019 was held at the Masonic Centre on Portland on Friday 18th October. Over fifty Members and guests attended including our Guest of Honour Lt(SCC) Rachel Harris, CO of TS Penn.
Before the Loyal Toast was given by S/M Nige Rimell, the Toastmaster S/M Tony Seal informed those attending that S/M Alex Oswald our Chairman had written to our Patron HM The Queen, sending loyal greetings from the Branch. He then read out Her Majesty’s reply.
In response to the Chairman’s introduction Rachel gave an insight into her involvement in the Sea Cadet Unit, and the various activities that the cadets take part in, ranging from sailing and boating, band music to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
“Hands to Dinner” was piped by Ord Cadet George. We were then treated to a fine meal followed by a selection of “Sea Shanties” sung by a group known as The Dorset Wrecks. The evening was rounded off with dancing to the music of Mike Walker.
