Act of Remembrance
The Nothe Fort Home Front event will end at around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday 26th May, with an Act of Remembrance, to recognise the many service personnel who took part in the DDay landings, on the beaches of Normandy on 6th June 1944.
At the end of the short service, the beacon will be lit, to pay tribute to those who fought, and the many who gave their lives for our freedom.
Leading the Act of Remembrance will be a military padre. Joining us at the fort will be the Weymouth Sea and Air Cadets, representatives from the British Legion, and reenactors and visitors attending the Nothe Fort ‘Home Front’ weekend. We invite visitors attending this event, to join us in recognising this important anniversary.
Throughout the day there will be live entertainment and displays of life during the Home Front years 1930 – 1945
