Funeral of Lt Cdr Donald Aish

From your Secretary Christine Tuck:

Shipmates -URGENT
I have just received the email below from S/M Roy Dean, Secretary of Dorchester Branch RNA. Would anyone be able to attend please?
Shipmates Christine and Alan,
I have had a request from Revd Heidi Merrett of the Dorchester and Winterbournes Team.
She will be leading the funeral of the late Lt Cdr Donald Aish at 12.15 on 31 January 2024 at Weymouth Crematorium and has asked if any representatives of the RNA association would be available to attend please. It will only be a small and relatively short funeral as his wife has dementia however, his sister-in-law who is organising the funeral, would very much like to honour his Naval Career. He was born in Stalbridge, educated at Gillingham Grammar School and joined the Royal Navy in approximately 1957 as a Weapons Engineer, training at HMS Collingwood.
I have asked if they would like a standard bearer to attend but Revd Heidi says that because it is going to be a small funeral the family have decided against a standard bearer and a White Ensign.
I hope to have two or three Dorchester shipmates at the funeral. Would any of your members be free to attend the service.
Apologies for the short notice.
Regards
Roy Dean
Secretary, Royal Naval Association Dorchester
